The exciting next step in the global energy transition, happening here in Lancashire
The green solution to the end of fossil fuels
The UK has committed to tackling climate change and aims to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This means businesses across the country need to urgently find ways to remove carbon emission from their operations.
Getting to net zero emissions is hard.
In the last decade the world has made enormous progress in delivering new zero emission ways of producing electricity with new solar and wind projects producing power at a lower cost than any conventional alternative.
But renewable electricity is only a small part of the story. In the UK today, over 80% of energy is consumed as a fuel for transportation, heat and industrial processes, with less than 20% of energy consumed as electricity.
Green hydrogen is an exciting and innovative solution which can drive down these emissions and futureproof our vital industries.
Storable
It can be stored (sometimes indefinitely) at low costs.
Mobile
It can be transported over significant distances.
Resilient
It can provide resiliency for extreme events or for critical processes.
Versatile
It can be used for multiple energy requirements including heating, mobility and power.
